Welcome To Harley Davidson Accessories Guide Blog.

If you are considering buying a motorcycle, it is crucial you understand what is important to you first and foremost.

Is it your budget?

Riding on long tours?

Bopping along the boulevards with your bobber-riding friends?

Spending alone time with a female passenger?

Looking cool?

In an attempt to attract the younger generation Harley Davidson Motor Company introduced the Sportster 883 Iron. They invested millions of dollars in design changes and aggressive and genius marketing like getting Victoria secret models to encourage twenty to thirty -somethings to buy the Sportster and look cool while riding it.

Harley Sportster 883 iron  comes in one color – black.  Everything is  pretty much blacked-out including the engines extending to the foot pegs that are mid-mounted, the tank cover, and the headlamp visor. It is a bare, pared down bike which makes it customable.

The handlebar is low-rise drag style. The 3.3 petrol holder and solo saddle are standard. The seat sits 25.3 off the ground. The only chromed parts are the pipes and  forks. The  Iron 883 looks almost the same as the Nightster ( another member of the Dark custom family of Sportsters) when it comes to chassis and suspension package. The only difference is the Iron 883 has smaller motor.

In the middle of the Iron 883 tubular frame lies the 883 cc evolution engine with electronic sequential fuel injection. It has 19 inch front wheels and 16 inch rear wheels.

Iron 883 is perfect for  vertically-challenged bikers. When you straddle the bike you can feel that it is compact. The gap between the grips, the seat and pegs is narrow.

If you are thinking of buying Harley Davidson Sportster 883  Iron you might factor in your riding style and body size. If you are short-statured and don’t plan on long cross-country hiatus then Iron 883 is just right for you. It is an entertaining bike, easily manageable particularly when making precise turns.

On the other hand if you weigh over 200 pounds, 6 feet tall and has a fetish for going on long motorcycle sabbatical you may find the ergonomics of Harley iron 883 a bit constricting.  Even  though it may lack the technical refinement compared to other metric bikes, the Iron 883 is a bike in its own category.

The Iron 883’s cockpit is as minimalist as it can get with only  a speedometer in the middle. The license plate comes from the side which a very retro nod of the days of yore.

You can order aftermarket exhaust system if you believe loud pipes save lives, because the stock pipes do not produce window-rattling roar.

Overall, the Harley Sportster 883 Iron definitely carries on the brand’s mystique and squeezes out every pound of the good old day’s fond memories. When you lay your eyes on an Iron 883 in the street or showroom it will surely put a smile on your face. Now, you can’t put that in any spec sheet.

In 2007,  Harley Davidson motorcycle company celebrated the golden anniversary of the Sportster which first came out in 1957. HD company produced only 2,000  of the sportster bikes which made the anniversary bikes more collectible.

The Harley Davidson sportster motorcycle was featured in the famous movie Mannequin which starred Kim Cattrall and Andrew MCcarthy, making the sportster the biker’s quintessential bike.

The red, white and blue uniform replete with a cape worn by Evel Knievel when he performed those notorious death-defying stunts and the Sportster racer he rode on, are now on display  at the Smithsonian Museum.

Harley Davidson Sportster series  is the longest running motorcycle model line-up ever manufactured.

Here are some of the reasons why  Harley Davidson Sportster is still one of the favorites of every bike-loving individuals:

1. The old vibration issue is a thing of the past. In 2004 Harley engineers started rubber-mounting their 883 cc evolution engine which assures smoother rides for bikers. The Sportster became reliable and durable as ever.

2. The motorcycle is customable. The Harley Sportster may be a little pricier compared to other metric bikes plus add any accessories you like from the plethora of selection in the HD catalogue, you are sure to turn heads around with your  personality-laden custom bike. If you are in it for the long haul, you wouldn’t mind  plunking a couple grand for you have one of the best bikes around. You never see the same Sportsters exactly alike.

3. It makes a good starter or beginner bike. It doesn’t weigh that much. It is quick and nimble especially in making turns. It sounds good. It looks good. It is the cheapest among the Harley stable of bikes that is why the sportster model is the gateway to owning or belonging to the Harley Davidson family without spending that much. You don’t have to remortgage your house or cash in your IRA.

4. It emits cleaner spent-gas. That should make the Epa happy. In 2007 the sportster  received the electronic sequential port fuel injection  like the rest of Harley bike models. That means saying goodbye to good old carburetor and hello to cleaner emissions.

5. Riding a Harley Sportster offers the ultimate Harley experience. It is air-cooled which means no more overheating in stop and go traffic or any location where it is hot.

6. Aftermarket parts or any Harley Davidson accessories are always available.  They are just about everywhere. You can order them whether offline or online.
